Dreams Made Here: Meet Marek
Marek answered his family’s prayers. The now 5-year-old was born happy and healthy to proud parents who had previously lost their first child shortly after birth.
Last June, Marek was diagnosed with cancer. Standard Risk-High B-cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Doctors have said that he has a 50% chance of survival.
Marek’s family was quickly thrown into a routine of hospital stays, clinic visits, intense treatments, medical tests, and chemotherapy.
The disease and the effects of the chemotherapy have taken a toll on young Marek and his lovely family. Marek’s treatments require the family to drive an hour to Winnipeg from their home in Steinbach.
Marek has always been caring and open-minded, and he continues to bravely endure his treatments. However, with summer finally here, he misses spending his favourite season outdoors.
Marek loves to spend his summers fishing, camping and searching for frogs. They’re his favourite animal. In a store, he has a keen ability to spot anything and everything that has a frog on it.
A Dream Summer
The Dream Factory is working to support Marek and his family during this difficult time.
With the Dream Family Fund, the family will have access to financial support that will help cover unexpected costs that come with having a sick child, including time off of work, additional childcare, and travel costs to and from Winnipeg.
